AbbVie - Vision-It

I created a web application for AbbVie between 2016 and 2019 that can be accessed publicly at https://abbviepro.be/vision-it/. The application features animations that doctors can use to explain various diseases to patients, providing comprehensive and high-quality information in one place. Doctors were pleased with the animations as they helped them explain complex medical concepts easily, leading to positive results with patients.

The application was designed to run smoothly on iPad 2017 and most iMac or computers available to doctors, without the need for installation. This made it a versatile tool for healthcare professionals on the go.

As the project manager, I oversaw the production of each module, which took between two to four months to complete. I also maintained regular contact with the client throughout the project, providing updates on the development of the animations and working with them to find alternative solutions in cases where certain animations proved to be too costly or technically challenging. As part of my role, I conducted research into how best to showcase each animation, taking into consideration both the technological requirements and the need for optimal performance. I collaborated with one or two 3D artists depending on the module, optimizing and creating missing 3D assets and animations using 3ds Max and Photoshop. Some of the texturing was done with Substance Painter which allowed to bake some slight AO lighting (for the hand bones).

For rendering, I utilized Babylon.js and developed a seamless user experience, incorporating animations based on blendshapes/morphers, textures blending, and custom tools developed within Babylon.js. I ensured that the performance was always optimal and the animations easy to understand. I worked closely with Babylon.js developers to overcome any engine or application bugs that arose during development.

The entire application was initially created using JavaScript but was later migrated to Vue.js, which simplified development and enabled us to translate the application into various languages.

Overall, the web application I created for AbbVie was a successful project that allowed doctors to better communicate with patients about complex medical concepts.
